Timing belt replacement
The timing belt keeps the valves and pistons of your engine perfectly in sync. It wears invisibly: from the outside you usually notice nothing until it is too late. If the belt snaps, the valves hit the pistons and you are quickly looking at an engine rebuild costing many times a timely replacement.
That is why every manufacturer sets a replacement interval, usually between 60,000 and 180,000 km or every 5 to 10 years, whichever comes first. We check the schedule for your car, replace the water pump and tensioners at the same time where needed, and you drive off with an engine you can rely on for years.

How long does a timing belt last?
It varies a lot per engine. Most manufacturers prescribe replacement between 60,000 and 180,000 km, or every 5 to 10 years. Rubber ages even without driving, so on an older car with low mileage the age counts. We look up the exact interval for your car in the factory data.
What happens if the timing belt breaks?
On most modern engines the valves then hit the pistons. The result is serious engine damage: bent valves, damaged pistons and in the worst case a full engine rebuild. The repair cost is then many times higher than a timely replacement.
Why replace the water pump at the same time?
On many engines the water pump is driven by the timing belt and sits behind the same cover. The biggest cost of the job is the labour to strip everything down. Replacing the pump and tensioners at the same time means you never pay for that work twice.
Does my car have a belt or a chain?
Some engines use a timing chain instead of a belt. A chain in principle lasts the life of the engine and has no fixed interval, though it can stretch at higher mileages. If in doubt, give us your number plate or chassis number and we check it right away.
How long does the replacement take?
