2. What data we collect and why

  • Site visitors: see the cookies section below.
  • Reservations: first name, last name, email, phone, vehicle choice, and Stripe payment confirmation. Purpose: arrange and confirm your reservation.
  • Sale files: the above plus address, date of birth, and a VAT number for business sales. Purpose: produce the sales contract, register the car, and meet the legal retention obligation (accounting and tax).
  • ID card (eID): when you sign, we read your eID to populate the contract fields accurately. We do not store your national-register number or eID photo in our systems.
  • Contact form and email: only to reply to your enquiry.

3. Legal basis

  • Performance of contract (art. 6.1.b GDPR) for reservations and sales.
  • Legal obligation (art. 6.1.c GDPR) for accounting retention.
  • Legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR) for basic site operation.
  • Consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR) for analytics cookies.

4. Who sees your data

Your data is shared only with the following processors:

  • Stripe: payment provider for reservations
  • Microsoft 365: email and office services
  • Hetzner: our IT host (datacenter in Germany, EU)
  • The Belgian government (DIV) when registering your vehicle

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising outside Cornette Automotive.

5. How long we keep it

  • Sale files and invoicing: ten (10) years, statutory retention period.
  • Reservation data without a sale: one (1) year.
  • Email contact without follow-up: six (6) months.
  • eID readout: not retained.

6. Your rights

You may at any time request access or a copy of your data, have inaccuracies corrected, request erasure within legal limits, object to processing, or withdraw your consent for analytics cookies. Email [email protected].

7. Cookies

  • Functional (always on): required for sign-in, language preference, and the site to work.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity (consent only): measure which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and where they click. Clarity makes anonymised session recordings (text fields are masked). No profiling outside our site.
  • Marketing: Meta Pixel and (later) Google Ads (consent only): when we run ads on Facebook, Instagram, or Google, these tags measure which cars you viewed and whether you got in touch. This lets us show you relevant follow-up ads. You can change your consent at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of this page.

8. Governing law

This statement is governed by Belgian law. Disputes fall within the jurisdiction of the courts of the West-Flanders judicial district, Kortrijk division.
