DPF cleaning or replacement
The diesel particulate filter (DPF) captures the soot from your diesel engine's exhaust gases. In flowing traffic the filter burns itself clean, but with lots of short trips and city driving that regeneration never completes. Soot builds up until the filter blocks.
A blocked DPF does not always mean a new one. We start with an honest diagnosis: often a forced regeneration or professional cleaning is enough, saving hundreds of euros compared to replacement. If the filter really is worn or damaged, you get a clear quote for the replacement first.

Can I keep driving with a blocked DPF?
Better not. The engine eventually switches to limp mode, consumption rises and the back pressure can damage the turbo and the engine. The longer you wait, the smaller the chance that cleaning is still enough.
Cleaning or replacing: what is the price difference?
A professional clean typically costs a fraction of a new filter. That is why we always start with a diagnosis: if the filter is only full of soot and ash, we clean it. If the ceramic core is melted or cracked, only replacement helps. You always get the quote first.
Does the occasional motorway drive really help?
Yes. On a longer drive at higher revs the exhaust gets hot enough for the filter to burn itself clean, the so-called regeneration. A weekly half-hour motorway drive prevents blockage on many cars.
Is removing a DPF legal?
No. Removing or bypassing a DPF is prohibited in Belgium. Since the particle counter was introduced at the technical inspection, a car without a working filter fails without appeal. We only repair by the rules.
Why does my filter keep blocking again?
There is usually an underlying cause: a faulty EGR valve, a worn sensor, injection problems or a driving profile of only short trips. We trace that cause and fix it too, otherwise you are back with us in no time.
