Ozone and odour treatment

Smoke, pet or musty damp odour works its way deep into the upholstery, carpet, headliner and ventilation ducts of your car. An air freshener only masks that temporarily: once the scent of the product fades, the underlying cause is still there.

An ozone treatment breaks down odour molecules, bacteria and mould at a molecular level instead of hiding them. The car is treated sealed, with no one inside, and afterwards ventilated thoroughly until the ozone reverts back to ordinary oxygen. Ozone tackles odour, not dirt or stains, so for the best result we often combine the treatment with an interior cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

What does an ozone treatment actually involve?

A generator produces ozone gas (O3) inside the sealed car. That gas breaks down odour molecules, bacteria and mould spores at a molecular level, reaching into the upholstery, carpet and ventilation ducts where a spray cannot get. Afterwards we let the car ventilate thoroughly until the ozone turns back into ordinary oxygen.

Is ozone safe for my car and for me?

For rubber, plastic and textile, a correctly dosed treatment is safe. During the treatment itself no one can be inside the car, since ozone is irritating to breathe. We fully ventilate the car before handing it back, so no ozone smell or residue is left behind.

Does it also work against smoke odour?

Yes, and that is exactly where ozone is strong: tobacco smell works deep into fabric and ventilation ducts, places a regular spray cannot reach. For long-standing, heavy smoke odour a second treatment may be needed before it is fully gone.

Should I also get an interior cleaning?

Ozone tackles odour, not dirt or stains. Combining both gives a more complete and lasting result, especially with pet hair or stains that appeared alongside the smell.

How long does a treatment take?

Count on a few hours, since the car needs to be treated sealed and then ventilated sufficiently afterwards. You can drop your car off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon.

Does the smell come back afterwards?

If the cause is gone, the result lasts. If the source is still there, for example a leak that has not been fixed yet or a damp carpet that has not fully dried, the smell can return. We flag that to you up front, so you know exactly where you stand.
