Headlight restoration

Headlights are made of polycarbonate, not glass. Under UV light, car washes and small stone chips the protective coating wears away, and the plastic gradually turns dull and yellow. That is not just a cosmetic issue: a dull headlight scatters light instead of focusing it, so you see less far at night and oncoming traffic is more easily dazzled.

Restoration machine-polishes away the damaged top layer, moving from coarse to fine grit until the plastic is clear again, then finishes with a UV-protective seal. It is an entry-level product at a fixed price, no surprises afterwards, and often done the same day.

  • Small scratches or pitting in the headlight plastic
  • Your car is for sale and the dull headlights drag down the overall impression

Frequently asked questions

Why do headlights turn dull and yellow?

The polycarbonate plastic has a thin protective coating that gradually wears down under UV light, car washes and stone chips. Once that layer is gone, the plastic underneath oxidises, producing the typical dull, yellowish haze.

Is restoration a permanent fix?

It mechanically removes the damaged layer and reseals the headlight against UV light, which slows the process down considerably. Without that protection the weathering starts again, just as it did on the original factory finish. So it is not a one-time fix for the life of the car, but a thorough restoration that lasts a good while.

Does this really help for the inspection?

If the failure was due to insufficient light transmission through dull plastic, yes. If the cause lies with the reflector, the aim or the bulb itself, restoration will not fix that. We check the cause first, so you do not pay for nothing.

What does headlight restoration cost?

It is an entry-level product at a fixed price, regardless of the car model. Ask for your free quote and you will know exactly where you stand the same day.

Can I do it myself with a shop-bought polishing kit?

You can, but the result is often uneven, and grit that is too coarse can damage the plastic further. We work with a machine using successive grit stages and a professional seal, which gives a more even and more durable result.

How long does the treatment take?

This is usually done within the hour per headlight, depending on the condition of the plastic. You do not need to leave your car with us for the day.
