Fixed or detachable: which should I choose?
If you use the towbar weekly, a fixed one is the sturdiest and cheapest choice. If you want nothing visible when not in use, go detachable. A retractable towbar folds away electrically under the bumper and is the most comfortable, but also the most expensive. We price all three options for you.
Does my car need re-inspection after fitting?
A properly fitted towbar with the right documents does not need a separate inspection visit; it is checked at your next periodic inspection. We supply the fitting certificate and the required conformity documents so that goes smoothly.
How much can my car tow?
That is on your car's certificate of conformity: the maximum towing weight, braked and unbraked, plus the maximum nose weight. We look it up for you and advise honestly; a caravan too heavy for a light car is dangerous and uninsured.
Do my parking sensors still work with a towbar?
Yes, with the correct brand-specific wiring kit. It tells the on-board computer a trailer or carrier is attached, temporarily disabling or adapting the rear sensors and activating trailer stabilisation. Universal kits without that communication give false alarms.
